Secret wedding: Miranda’s Bloom’s bride

Model Miranda Kerr has secretly tied the knot with Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, but they won’t call Australia home for the honeymoon.

Kerr is David Jones’s fashion ambassador and was expected in Sydney soon for modelling commitments.

But David Jones issued a statement this morning revealing that Kerr has had to pull out of next week’s 2010 summer fashion launch because she will be on her honeymoon.

“We have been trying to plan this for some time and unfortunately the only window of opportunity for our honeymoon fell at the same time as the David Jones fashion launch,” Kerr said in the statement.

“David Jones very graciously released me during this period so we could celebrate an intimate ceremony and honeymoon together.”

David Jones’s senior buyer, Collette Garnsey, said: “Given the exciting news that Miranda and Orlando have recently wed and will be enjoying their honeymoon together, Miranda unfortunately will not be with us. David Jones is thrilled for Miranda, Orlando and their families. This is an exciting chapter in their lives and they will share a wonderful future together.”

Meanwhile, speculation the couple are expecting a baby continues to mount.

Kerr, who was raised in the NSW country farming town of Gunnedah, first met the English-born actor backstage at a Victoria’s Secret lingerie fashion show in New York in 2006.

They began dating in late 2007.

Bloom, 33, is one of Hollywood’s top leading men, with roles in the billion-dollar box-office movie franchises Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as Troy, Ned Kelly and Elizabethtown.

They confirmed their engagement on June 21.

Orlando Bloom receives degree at Canterbury Cathedral

Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom collected an honorary degree from Kent University on Tuesday morning.

With his dashing good looks and a sharp dark suit covered by the red ceremonial robes, Canterbury born Bloom strolled into the Cathedral, alongside Poirot star David Suchet OBE, who was also picking up an honorary degree.

The pair clapped on all the other graduates as they received their degrees, before they were introduced to collect theirs.

Orlando Bloom blushed as his achievements were read out, who alongside starring in Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, has been voted one of the hottest males on the planet and been one of the most Googled pin-ups.

With his well groomed face and feathered hat Bloom then took to the lectern, watched by super model Mirander Kerr.

He said: “I would like to thank everyone at the university very much. It is a great honour and a wonderful experience.
“I am in wonder, wondering what I’m doing here.
“I’m humbled, and it is great to be back in Canterbury.
“I appreciate this more than I can say. Please accept my gratitude.”

The former St Edmunds School pupil also recalled some of his childhood memories of Canterbury, including his stage debut at the Marlowe Theatre, where he was also due to visit.

“I remember being four-years-old in a hot and itchy monkey suit and being bitten by some kind of bug. I turned round to the audience and scratched my bum in front of a riotous crowd, and that roar still follows me.

“It is fitting to be back in my home town where I have many fond memories of the Cathedral, the fields and the duck pond at the university campus.”

After leaving the Cathedral he signed a few autographs and posed for a handful of pictures. With one teenage fan having travelled all the way from Waymouth to catch a glimpse of the Silver screen royalty.

Orlando Bloom’s Newest Role: Face of Boss Orange Fragrance

Orlando Bloom might be off the market, but you’ll still be able to get a little piece of the star–if you’re willing to jet to Europe, that is.

The Pirates of the Caribbean swashbuckler has just announced that he’ll front Hugo Boss’s newest men’s fragrance.

“BOSS Orange is a brand I immediately identified with because it has a laid back, spontaneous quality I relate to,” the actor says in a release. His men’s fragrance will be a follow-up to the women’s scent, which launched in Europe in 2009 with Sienna Miller as its face. And while details of Orlando’s campaign and the juice itself are still forthcoming, according to the actor, it’s smooth sailing when it comes to this latest role: “It’s been really fun–and there’s more to come!,” he teases.

Unfortunately for American fans of the man and the brand, reps tell PEOPLE, that doesn’t include bringing the fragrance Stateside.

Big stars battle to cop part in big-budget Sweeney movie

LOOK out, sunshine! A-list actors are fighting it out to be part of new movie The Sweeney.

Stars Daniel Craig, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom and Tom Hardy all want to hear the words: “Get yer trousers on, you’re PICKED!”

Screen hardman Ray Winstone has already signed up to play Det Insp Jack Regan – the role made famous by the late John Thaw – in a big-budget remake of TV’s hit Seventies cop show.

Now Brits Daniel, Ewan, Orlando and Tom have all expressed “huge interest” in the project after seeing a copy of the script. They’ve put themselves up for the part of George Carter, Regan’s younger sidekick, played by Dennis Waterman on TV.

A source revealed: “All four are keen on the role but whoever ends up doing it will change the movie’s tone. Ray’s going to be great as Regan but the chemistry between him and Carter needs to be right.”

The script, by Football Factory writer Nick Love and TV series creator Ian Kennedy Martin, has been snapped up by British film company Vertigo who are keen to start filming this year for a 2011 release.

The source said: “The success of Life On Mars shows there’s a huge appetite for Seventies cop dramas. With the right cast The Sweeney could be even bigger.”

Orlando @ 2010 Adam Jeffrey Katz Memorial Lecture Series

Orlando Bloom is coming forward and talking about his struggle with dyslexia in hopes of helping others.

“I always knew that I wasn’t stupid,” the actor told Access Hollywood on Wednesday at “The Child Mind Institute” lecture, part of the 2010 Adam Jeffrey Katz Memorial Lecture Series at The Rockefeller University in New York City. “I felt like I was a smart kid, I just struggled with aspects of, of getting educated.”

The 33-year-old actor offered up some words of encouragement for kids also struggling with dyslexia.

“You’re part of a very special club and it’s a gift and don’t let anyone ever tell you that you’re not good enough,” he said. “Don’t ever let anyone tell you that because you struggle with dyslexia that you’re never going to make it in life, because it’s simply not true.”

The big screen star, who was diagnosed with the learning disability when he was 7, said intense preparation over the years has helped him overcome dyslexia, but admitted there are times when he still has problems.

“I auditioned for something recently and I keep kicking myself about it because I completely dropped the ball,” he explained.

The actor did acknowledge that his striking good looks also haven’t hurt his career in Hollywood.

“I’m not too ugly,” he joked with Access. “I had a way with women, and I managed to – with a wink and a smile – get through a lot of the challenging things.”
